Turkish Design Advisory Council Realized its First Meeting
On Friday, October 23, 2009 the first meeting of Turkish Design Advisory Council which has been established according to the Decision of Council of Ministers and published in the Official Gazette on October 3, 2009, was held in Ankara, was chaired by Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Nihat Ergün. ETMK was represented by Ms. Gülay Hasdoğan, the President.
Following the opening, Council meeting was realized with the participation of high level representatives of Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of National Education, State Planning Institution, Undersecreteriate of Treasury and Foreign Trade, Higher Education Council, The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, Turkish Patent Institute, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization, The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, The Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen, Turkish Exporters Assembly, Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association, Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects, Industrial Designers Society of Turkey, Turkish Society of Graphic Design, Fashion Designers Association.
Aim of the Council is to take consultation decisions and give proposals towards accommodating “Turkish Design” image in order to determine design strategies and policies for increasing Turkey’s competition power in international markets, develop and implement applied infrastructure and accordingly create designs with highly added value, bring Turkish designers and designs to more preferred position in the global markets, and provide cooperation among designers and industrialists.
