President of BEDA, Bureau of European Design Associations, Mr. Jan R. Stavik visited Turkey
President of BEDA, Bureau of European Design Associations, Mr. Jan R. Stavik visited Turkey in order to meet with ETMK between October 19-22, 2009.
A graduate from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration and INSEAD, France, Jan has spent most of his professional life in marketing and senior management, working for Norwegian as well as international companies and brands. Among them are Unilever, Carlsberg, Coca-Cola, Jordan, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and EAC-KiMS (Malaysia) Ltd.
For the last decade, Jan has been Managing Director of the Norwegian Design Council (NDC), which in his time has experienced considerable budget increases from the government, enabling the NDC to introduce major national design projects.
Jan has been a board member of BEDA (Bureau of European Design Associations) for a number of years. He is now the organisation’s President, as of March, 2009.
Jan Stavik first met with the Board Members of Istanbul Branch. On October 19, 2009 Jan has first visisted Marmara University Department of Industrial Design in Istanbul and gave a speech to the students. Later same day he had participated to a meeting where he met the designers and the students at DDF, Eski Şapka Fabrikası, İstanbul.
Jan Stavik then went to Ankara where he had the chance to meet with the Board Members of ETMK Headquarter. On October 21, 2009 Jan has given a lecture at METU, Faculty of Architectıre Auditorium on "Why do we need a design policy for Europe".
